Privacy Policy for AI Chat Exporter
Last updated:
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy ("Policy") determines the procedure for processing data and measures to ensure data security undertaken by the AI Chat Exporter: PDF & Word mobile application (hereinafter referred to as the "Operator", "we", or "our").
We believe that privacy is a fundamental right. This Policy applies to all information that we may receive about users of the AI Chat Exporter mobile app.
If you do not agree to this privacy policy, please do not use our Services.
Our Principles
We have designed this policy to be consistent with the following principles:
- Privacy policies should be human-readable and easy to find.
- Data collection, storage, and processing should be minimized as much as possible to enhance security.
- Data practices should meet the reasonable expectations of users.
2. Information We Collect (and Don't Collect)
AI Chat Exporter is designed to function with maximum privacy. We collect as little information as possible to keep the app running smoothly.
No Accounts or Personal Data
AI Chat Exporter does not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address. We do not collect your name, email address, contact details or phone number. The app analytics described below use a random install ID instead of anything that identifies you. The only sign-in in the app is the optional Google Drive connection described in Section 3, and that sign-in stays on your device.
URL Conversions & "Process and Forget" Architecture
When you submit a URL to be converted into a PDF, Word, or Markdown document, the link and its content are sent to our servers for processing. We use a strict "process and forget" architecture. Your URLs and the resulting documents are processed in real-time and are never saved, logged, or stored on our servers after the conversion is complete. Our app analytics record only the website's domain (for example, chatgpt.com), never the full link, the page or chat title, or any of its content.
App Analytics and Crash Reports
To find out what fails and what to improve, the app sends us information about how it is used and about errors it runs into. We collect this ourselves; it is not shared with analytics companies. It is linked to a random install ID that the app creates the first time it opens. The ID is not linked to your name, email, Google account or advertising ID, and clearing the app's data or reinstalling it creates a new, unconnected ID. Sharing is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time (see Section 7).
- Usage: when the app is opened, which screens and features are used (for example, the export format or PDF tool), whether a conversion succeeded or failed and at which step, how long it took, whether a link was shared into the app or pasted, the domain of the website being converted, and, for AI chat links, whether the link is a public share link or a private chat link.
- Errors and crashes: the error message and the technical stack trace showing where in the app it happened. Web addresses in error messages are cut to their domain, and file names are removed before anything is sent.
- Ads: whether an ad was shown, could not load, or was watched to the end, and which kind of ads you allowed on the ad consent form (personalized, non-personalized, limited or none, or that no form was needed). This is separate from what Google AdMob collects (below).
- Device and app details: phone brand and model, Android version, memory size, app version, language and time zone.
- Approximate country, worked out from your IP address when the data reaches our server. The IP address itself is not stored.
- Install source: the referral information Google Play provides on first open (for example, whether the app was found by searching the Play Store).
This data is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and stored in our own Google Cloud project (Cloud Storage and BigQuery, in the United States).
Information Collected by Google (Play and AdMob)
To keep the app free and operational, we also use services from Google that collect information under their own policies:
- Google Play: Android and Google Play may report app crashes and freezes to us in the Play Console, as described in Google's privacy policy.
- Google AdMob: We use AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID) and usage data to serve personalized or non-personalized ads depending on your consent and device settings.
Where the app asks for ad consent (the EEA, UK and Switzerland), you can allow personalized or non-personalized ads, or continue without consent: then no ads are shown and the app is limited to 1 PDF and 5 Markdown exports a week, with no Word or EPUB exports or PDF tools. That weekly count is kept only on your phone. You can change your choice at any time in Settings > Ad privacy.
3. Google Drive (Optional)
Connecting Google Drive is entirely optional. The app works fully without a Google account, and you are only asked to sign in if you choose Settings > Save to Google Drive > Connect Google Drive.
What We Ask Google For
- Basic profile (name, email address and profile picture), shown in the app's Settings so you can see which account is connected.
- The
drive.filepermission, which only lets AI Chat Exporter create files in your Drive and access the files it created. The app cannot see, open, change or delete any other file in your Drive.
Your Google Sign-In Stays on Your Phone
Sign-in is handled by Google's own sign-in service on your device. Your Google password never passes through the app, and the access token Google issues is kept on your device by that service. It is never sent to our servers, and we do not create an account for you or keep any record of your Google account on our side.
How a Document Reaches Your Drive
- You convert a chat or page. Our server generates the document and sends it back to your phone, then deletes it, exactly as it does when you save to your device.
- Your phone uploads the document directly to Google Drive over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, into a folder named "AI Chat Exporter" in your Drive.
- Our servers are not involved in the upload. They never receive your Google sign-in, never access your Drive, and never see where the file was saved.
Disconnecting
Tap Disconnect in the app's Settings to revoke AI Chat Exporter's access to your Drive and remove the sign-in from your phone. Files already saved stay in your Drive and remain yours. You can also remove access at any time from your Google Account at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
Google API Services User Data Policy
AI Chat Exporter's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
4. How We Use Information
The limited automated data we collect is used solely to:
- Provide the URL conversion service.
- Serve advertisements to keep the application free.
- Identify and fix app crashes and technical issues.
- Understand which features are used and where conversions fail, so we can improve the app.
5. When We Disclose Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your data. Our app analytics and crash reports are not shared with anyone; Google Cloud stores them for us as our hosting provider. The information Google AdMob and Google Play collect is handled by Google under its own policies. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law.
6. Security Measures
All communication between the AI Chat Exporter app and our servers is encrypted. Our servers do not store your documents or URLs after the conversion is finished. App analytics are stored encrypted in our Google Cloud project, and only we can access them.
7. How Long We Keep Data, and Your Choices
- Turn off usage data: in the app, go to Settings > Privacy > Share usage data. While it is off, the app records and sends no analytics or crash reports, and anything recorded but not yet sent is deleted from your phone. You can turn it back on at any time.
- App analytics and crash reports are deleted automatically 14 months after we receive them.
- Converted documents and the links you convert are not kept at all (see Section 2).
- To start over with a new install ID, clear the app's data in Android settings or reinstall the app. Because the ID is not connected to your identity, we cannot look up your data by name or email; if you want data deleted, contact us and we will help.
8. Children's Privacy
Our Services are not directed to individuals under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as we expand our Services or to comply with legal requirements. We encourage you to check this page periodically for updates within the app.
10. Contact Us
